Job Description
Maison Nazareth is currently seeking a Maintenance Attendant to join its team. Reporting to the Administrative Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the general upkeep of the facilities to ensure a clean, safe, functional, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of building systems and equipment (plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical systems).
- Plan and organize maintenance activities, prioritize interventions, and respond effectively to unforeseen issues.
- Repair or replace defective items such as doors, windows, locks, faucets, light fixtures, appliances, and furniture.
- Diagnose equipment and system malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement appropriate solutions.
- Strictly adhere to health and safety standards, as well as applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, inspection reports, and inventory of tools and materials.
- Participate in facility improvement, renovation, and upgrade projects.
- Coordinate with external service providers, contractors, and suppliers for specialized work.
- Ensure interior and exterior cleanliness of the building in collaboration with the housekeeping team (floors, walls, windows, doors, outdoor areas).
- Perform outdoor maintenance tasks such as landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, and general upkeep of exterior spaces.
- Provide regular updates on completed and upcoming work to the supervisor and management.
- Be available to respond to emergency maintenance issues outside regular working hours, as needed.
- Perform logistical support tasks such as purchasing supplies and materials, maintaining the organization’s vehicle, and carrying out other related duties within the scope of the role.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (asset).
- Relevant experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and building mechanics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and internal policies.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in French, both orally and in writing.
- Good physical condition (ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions).
- Strong commitment to cleanliness and quality of work.
Working Conditions
- Salary: $21.17 per hour
- Schedule: 40 hours per week
- Status: Permanent part-time position
