Jean-Guy Vienneau is a retired professor and administrator from the Université de Moncton. He has worked for 35 years at that institution. He was also the founding Executive Director of the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique and Assistant Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs for the Province of New Brunswick when he was on leave without pay from the Université de Moncton. He is also a consultant who has worked at the provincial, national and international levels and continues to offer his services as a resource person.

He has been active in a number of community organizations and associations throughout his career and continues to be involved. He was president of the Société de l'Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick, vice-president of the organizing committee for the first Jeux de l'Acadie, president of the Boys and Girls Club of the East End of Moncton and Dieppe, and president of the Atlantic Provinces University Sports Association. He was recently a member of the Board of Directors of the Conseil d'accueil des immigrants francophones and Chairman of the Board from 2011 to 2012.
